In January, my sweet daughter turned two years-old. We happened to in Pennsylvania for the holidays, so we used it as an excuse to have a mini family reunion. Haha, next year, her party will not be so big :-) I’ve compiled this blog post as sort of a best practices/idea board for anyone interested in hosting a fun party like this!
Rosie has been obsessed with donuts lately, so this party theme was a no-brainer. I decided on wearing jammies and breakfast-for-dinner — and then consulted Google, Etsy, and Pinterest for the rest! I saw the cutest “Donut Grow Up” sign and the rest is history. Here’s where you can find all of the decor and fun things I used for the party:
-”Donut Grow Up” balloon banner and decorations from Amazon
-Custom coloring pages from Etsy
-Cereal necklaces with yarn (Fruitful O’s brand is vegan!)
-Pink sprinkled table cloths from Target
-Donut thank you cards from Etsy
-Inflatable donut swim rings from Amazon, for the kids to play with during the party
Let’s talk about the menu. You can do anything you want — the sky’s the limit! The hardest thing was the donut topiary that I assembled, which I’ll explain a bit more later.
-Build you own waffle bar with toppings: chocolate chips, whipped cream, coconut, almonds, granola, peanut butter, and fresh fruit. I wanted a rainbow of items, so I put strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, pineapple, and blackberries on a platter.
-Yogurt parfaits and granola, placed into the “high end” champagne glasses from the Dollar Tree :-)
-Breakfast casseroles for the adults
-Coffee, tea, and juice boxes
As for the donut topiary, I found this website to help. I won’t repeat all of her steps, but I agree with all of them. Especially the part where she says you’ll need more donut holes than you think. My topiary used about 85 donut holes, give or take. It really was the star of the show though! I highly recommend it.
If you decide to do a breakfast party, I hope this information helps!
Cheers!
